what is unique about the Greeks relationship with their Gods is the interaction with humans
Posidon interfered with odysses coming home
aphrodite had lovers of both men and gods
dionysis was son of zues
zues is ruler of heaven, father of athena, god of sky, weather, thunder, law, order, and justice
athena is goddess of wisdom, warfare and peace
Apollo - God of music, arts, knowledge, healing
zues was his father and artimis was his twin sister

Tyrants: someone who rules outside the framework of the polis
modern meaning- an abusive or opressive ruler
Hippias was a tyrant from 527-510 BC
his brother was murdered and his rule became harsh
he was thrown out of Athens
in revenge he worked with the persian king, and helped invade Marathon
